 Noisy
Back to Full Blog

The present is what we would call 'modern life' I suppose. Well, today I realised that modern life won't shut up. The washing machine was bleeping at me. The TV was mumbling on and on... The phone kept ringing, the texts were pinging. My girls were singing along to their IPod shuffles. Noisy blooming life! Shut yer gob modern life!

But the silence can be so deafening.

Hope all is well

I'd appreciate the chance to be deafened by some silence... silence...

See I'm with you, Bunkem, I like the silence. I'm one of those people who doesn't turn the radio on when I'm driving, when I'm home alone, the t.v. isn't on and the house is silent. My husband is the complete opposite, he needs background noise. The t.v. blaring even when he's not watching it, the radio on in the truck and so on. He's constantly turning the noise on while I go behind him and shut it all off.

Silence is golden....yes it is.

I rarely have the radio on in my car when I'm driving. I hear constant "noise" at home with the 3 kiddos, constant at work with the phone, people, etc... When I'm home alone, I do have the TV on but I can usually tune that out when I want to. Sometimes I just want peace & quiet. Life is so hectic & busy that my poor brain needs to rest sometimes before it explodes!
shshshshsssshhhhhhhhhhhh

DeBunkem:

Schoepenhauer wrote this essay on noise almost two hundred years ago. Noise was a problem then as now, but the origin of the noise was different.

Yep Secret-Victoria's First, and I hear the pounding of the ants feet - curses upon the tiny crawling creatures and their incessant noise...
